Thieves tow away crash cars

TWO cars were towed away by thieves in Kidderminster after being left at the scene of separate road collisions.

In the first incident a green Renault Clio - registered K454 UDV - was stolen from Old Chester Road South at the junction of the A449 between 12pm and 12.45pm on Friday, April 18. It had been left there by a Kidderminster man following a collision the previous day.

A work colleague of the owner saw the vehicle being towed away by a pick-up truck but, at the time, did not realise that it was being stolen.

Two days later, on Sunday, April 20, a red Vauxhall Astra Merit - registered L389 DVP - was stolen at around 12.48pm from Wilden Lane, just off the Worcester Road. It had been left parked by the Total garage following a collision there.

The car was taken by thieves using a white, unmarked low loader.

A police spokesman said: "We would like to hear from anyone who either saw these cars being removed, knows who is responsible or where the vehicles are now.

"Anyone who is involved in a road collision and has to leave their car at the scene for whatever reason should ensure the vehicle is secure and arrange for recovery as soon as possible to prevent this kind of thing from happening."

Witnesses or anyone with information should call police on 08457 444888 or ring Crimestoppers, on 0800 555111.
