Soap star's bike to be auctioned
COUNTY Air Ambulance is to auction one of its most prized acquisitions, thanks to Emmerdale actor, Richard Thorp.
He donated his Kawasaki Drifter motorcycle to the lifesaving charity.
The 1500cc machine has been lovingly customised by the actor, who plays Alan Turner in the long running ITV soap.
The bike was given to the charity last year and arrangements have been made to auction it at Cheltenham Racecourse on November 14.
It is expected it will raise over £10,000 for County Air Ambulance.
Annie Newell, area fund-raising officer for the charity, said: "We are indebted to Richard, who has kindly donated this splendid motorcycle to the charity.
"It is our intention to do it justice and offer it for auction at the highest price.
"I expect considerable interest in the machine from across the country and even further afield, hopefully, resulting in a big boost to funds for the vital work of County Air Ambulance."
Richard Thorp, who lives on the Herefordshire/Shropshire border, is one of the longest serving cast members of Emmerdale, having first appeared in 1982, playing Alan Turner, landlord of the Woolpack Inn.
