A NIGHT of Blues came to Bewdley’s new music venue, the refurbished St Georges Hall, on Saturday night (February 14).
The audience was treated to the full range of the blues genre, with the evening opening with set of sixties British Blues from local band Final Measure, featuring the Barnett Brothers, Richard Jones, Jools Bennett and Roxy.
They were followed by the Midlands’ young blues sensation Sunjay, who captivated the crowd with his unique take on acoustic Blues and Folk music.
Straight from playing in London, Doc Bowling and his Blues Professors, featuring Ben Bowling on vocals and Sophie Loyer on violin, had the audience on their feet dancing to a set of Blues music.
Peter Barnett, one of the event organisers, said: “We are planning a series of live music events throughout 2015, including bringing in artists from New York and Canada, as well as local favourites who haven’t played in the area for a while.
“We wanted to launch the 2015 programme with a bang and I think we achieved that with around 200 people enjoying a tremendous and diverse evening of live music.
“Our next event will be a Showcase of young local talent in conjunction with Bewdley Youth Festival on Friday March 27th and we hope to get another good crowd then for what will be a very good evening of music from some very talented young people”
