AN APPRENTICESHIP and jobs fair organised by Wyre Forest MP Mark Garnier will be held in Kidderminster next month.
The event will be held in the Town Hall on October 1 from 11am and will feature a host of employer stands advertising their latest vacancies.
Latest unemployment figures for August showed the number of Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants in Wyre Forest for 16-64-year-olds stood at 749 – a small increase of 14 from the month before.
But the year-on-year figure showed unemployment had fallen by 38 per cent compared with the same period in 2014 and Mr Garnier welcomed the news.
He said: “These figures show the health of our economy – we are moving from the days of large drops in unemployment figures and entering ‘normal’ times where locally we have relatively few people unemployed.
“We also should be entering a period of wage growth. This doesn’t mean though that we’re going to lose any energy: I have my next jobs fair on 1st October in Kidderminster Town Hall at 11am.”
