THIRSTY drinkers will be treated to ales, ciders and perrys at Wolverley’s first ever beer festival.

The two-day event kicks off at Wolverley Memorial Hall on Saturday, September 26, and Sunday, September 27, and will feature live music and will raise money for the Wolverley Memorial Project.

The project aims to redevelop the Memorial Site to create a new community facility for the people of the village and the surrounding area, as well as a continuing memorial to the fallen from Wolverley.

Lindsay White, project publicity officer, said: “We decided to run a beer festival as it seemed a good way of bringing the community together, raise some funds for the project and have some fun.

“A beer festival is something that Wolverley has never had and they have become very popular.

“With so many local breweries, producing some great ales, ciders and perrys, we have been spoilt for choice and are pleased to be featuring more than 25 at our event.

“The Wolverley Memorial Project was established in 2014, the centenary of the Great War, by an enthusiastic team of local people who want to create a new memorial facility for the fallen of Wolverley, and a new hub for today’s community.

“Through community fundraising, such as this event, and through the support of funds and grants, we hope to raise £1.2m for this regeneration project. It is a large task, but with a strong project team, and in partnership with the community, we are optimistic of creating an exciting legacy.”

A number of local bands and groups will be performing throughout the weekend, including True Colours, Karpet Kickers, the Kidderminster Male Choir and Locked and Loaded. On the Saturday night, visitors can enjoy Karl’s Oompah Band, for some traditional Beer Festival ale drinking songs.

On the Sunday there will also be a fun fair for the family to enjoy.

Opening times for the event are 12pm until 11pm on the Saturday, and between 12pm and 6pm on Sunday.

You can book tickets in advance by visiting www.wolverleymemorial.org, and all who book tickets in advance will receive a limited edition souvenir glass.
