CHEFS from Bewdley’s pubs, cafes and restaurants will compete to create a prize-winning salad at this weekend’s Spring Fair.
The unique event – which will take place at 3pm on Bank Holiday Monday (May 2) – has become a popular event at the Discover Bewdley Spring Fair and attracts large audiences, hungry to see what the town’s finest culinary artists can come up with.
The Salad Challenge will take on the Green Theatre stage, in Jubilee Gardens, and the chefs will have three minutes to choose from a range of ingredients supplied by Bewdley Farm Shop and the Deli @ Bewdley, and then just 10 minutes to create a prize-winning tasty and attractive salad.
The challenge was created as a way of demonstrating the quality of produce and the culinary talents available in the town.
A number of chefs from eateries in Bewdley will take part including the Hop Pole, Pomodoro, Clementines, Shambles Café and Paisley Catering.
Organisers and residents, Dave Loughton and Ellie Hooper, said: “We feel this is a great way of showing just how good, healthy and inexpensive great local food can be.”
This year’s judging panel will include Mayor of Bewdley, Councillor Calne Edginton-White, and Ben Mannion, strategic development director at Hewitt Recruitment.
The winning chef will be presented with the salad challenge trophy for the year.
