TALENTED chess players in Bewdley were on the board in an annual tournament to help raise hundreds for charity.
The 2016 Bewdley Chess Tournament was held at the Parish Rooms in Wribbenhall on August 28 and saw Joseph Friar retain his overall winner trophy.
Other impressive performers including runner up James Friar, Mike Friar, Paul Thomas, Alison Johnson and Liz Littleford.
The Jim Friar Trophy, awarded to the best performing junior, was this year claimed by Sam Harris.
But the event also saw them raise £307.38 which will be donated to St Anne’s Church to go towards their roof repairs fund.
Co-organiser John Wrench said: “Ray Collect and I ran the event on the day but we had considerable help along the way attracting sponsors from Keith Thompson, John Whitehead and Stuart McRorie.
“Bewdley Mayor John Beeson presented the prizes. We are all very grateful to all the local sponsors.”
