POLICE are investigating an attempted robbery in which a teenage boy was assaulted in Stourport.

The incident took place on Tuesday, July 4, at around 8.50am, in an alleyway that connects Dunley Road to the B4196, Areley Common, in Stourport.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "The boy was walking through the alleyway, when he came into contact with an unknown man, aged 30 to 40-years-old.

"The man punched the boy in his face, before asking him whether he had any possessions on him or in his bag.

"The offender, who is described as a white man with a shaved head and wearing a white vest, left the scene without taking any items."

Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have any information, or may have seen the offender aorund the area at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Mercia Police on 101, quoting incident reference number 144S of July 4.
