No problem if all parked correctly

2:12pm Wednesday 14th May 2008

I FEEL I must write in defence of Mr Russello (Shuttle, May 1) who was fined £70 for parking in a disabled bay because the parent and child spaces were full at Tesco.

Anyone who has to get a child out of a rear seat knows they need plenty of room.

Whilst out with my young grandson recently I was leaving a parent and child space and I was approached by a lady who said she needed the space for her disabled father.

After telling her it was a parent and child space, she said that disabled people are allowed to park in them!

That being the case is the reverse not true? Do Tesco fine disabled customers when they park in parent and child spaces?

More importantly why aren't ordinary drivers fined when they park in dedicated spaces?

If everyone parked where they should, this would not be a problem.

Finally if all spaces were made large enough this wouldn't be a problem (new Tesco planners please note!)
