MEMBERS of Bewdley Rowing Club will swap their boats and blades for pedal power in aid of the Millbrook Suite.
The rowers are preparing to go on a 150-mile cycle ride to Rhayader Dam in Wales and back.
They will leave the rowing club at dawn on Saturday, April 25, taking in a ride around the dam and an overnight camp before returning home the next day.
This is the second year the club is embarking on the ride and one of the cyclists decided to turn this year's trip into a fund-raising event.
Neil Gledhill, 36, of The Birches, Stourport, was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in June 2007. He has been in remission for 15 months and visits the Millbrook Suite for consultations every three months.
Mr Gledhill said: “I decided to take part in the cycle ride in order to give back a little of the help they have given me. I can't quite believe I'm going to do 150 miles.”
Organiser Andy Ray said he was hoping for good weather, adding: “Last year we had torrential rain.”
If anyone wants to sponsor the cyclists, they are asked to send a donation to The Shuttle offices.
