THE deadline is looming for Wyre Forest residents to have their say on possible gypsy and traveller sites.

A series of public consultation meetings held by Wyre Forest District Council has come to an end but there is still time to make representations in writing by November 18.

The seven shortlisted sites are:

Manor Farm, St John’s Road, Stourport - 15 gypsy pitches or one site for travelling showpeople, to be delivered between 2023 and 2028.

The Gables Yard, Broach Road, Stourport - three gypsy pitches to be delivered between 2013 and 2018.

Saiwen, Sandy Lane, Stourport - three gypsy pitches to be delivered between 2013 and 2018.

Land next to Nunn’s Corner, Sandy Lane, Stourport, four gypsy pitches to be delivered between 2013 and 2018.

Lea Castle Hospital site, Park Gate Road, Kidderminster - 15 gypsy pitches or one site for travelling showpeople to be delivered between 2018 and 2023

Sion Hill School site, Sion Hill, Kidderminster - 10 gypsy pitches to be delivered between 2013 and 2018.

Site at Stourport Road, Bewdley - 15 gypsy pitches or one site for travelling showpeople to be delivered between 2013 and 2018.

Mike Parker, the council’s director of planning and regulatory services explained the next steps after consultation: “What we aim to do at the end of the consultation early next year is to take the results back through the council's decision making meetings with the aim of identifying the sites that will provide the pitch requirements.

“Those sites will then be put into the site allocations and policies development plan document that will also go through the council's decision making process to agree the document to be put to the Secretary of State, who will then appoint an inspector from the planning inspectorate to hold an examination in public to consider the whole document.

“He or she will then report their findings and hopefully the document will be found ‘sound' and the council can then confirm its final adoption.”

He said it at this stage it was impossible to give a date but he said the council hopes the process will be complete by the end of 2012.
