Modern building not pretty enough

I READ the council is making a compulsory purchase order on Lloyds Garage to provide access to the new basin at Stourport.

Access is already provided by Engine Lane. Could it be that the real reason is the building isn't pretty enough?

It is a modern low industrial building in excellent state of repair which, whilst not pretty is vastly preferable to the derelict Georgian former shopping mall opposite.

I ask is this a good enough reason to put around 20 people on the dole and seriously inconvenience local people. Where else can you buy bits for your car or gas for your caravan on a Sunday afternoon?
