HIGH winds and an unsuitable location have been blamed as factors behind the surprise decision to close Stourport market, according to organisers.
The town's Farmers and Community Market only restarted in April after organisers, Stourport Forward, found Pensax grocers, Rosy Apple, to help jointly run the bazaar, held every Tuesday.
In June, 2006, trading was suspended at the then monthly market because not enough Stourport stall-holders could be found to come on board.
Stalls were absent again, on Tuesday, following the latest closure decision.
Jim Adcock, Rosy Apple's proprietor, said: "Unfortunately, we found Raven Street was not a good position in terms of market trade.
"High winds also forced cancellation and early closure on a couple of occasions."
Derek Fradgley, Stourport Forward chairman, said: "We are disappointed about the closure of the market but are very grateful to Jim Adcock of Rosy Apple and to all the traders and community groups who attended.
"We would like to think we might attempt to revive the market if we can find a more suitable location in the future."
