AN exhibition is taking place this weekend showcasing a series of art works connected to the £3.2 million restoration of Stourport canal basins.
The artwork was commissioned by British Waterways to integrate art and artists into the overall restoration project and is a collection of pieces by local, regional and national artists.
Since 2006, British Waterways has worked with a number of artists specialising in different artistic disciplines to deliver a commissioning programme alongside the restoration work.
The artists involved have spent a lot of time at the basins throughout the project to investigate, explore and identify with the place.
A variety of art pieces have been created in response to the individual commissions, which aim to raise awareness of the historical importance of the basins and attract a wider audience to visit the area.
Susannah Ronan, arts and project coordinator for British Waterways West Midlands, said: "We are absolutely thrilled with the work that all the artists involved have produced."
The collection encompasses a collection of contemporary pieces which include photography, sound, animation and multi-media.
The exhibition at Church House, Areley Kings, runs from 10am until 5pm on tomorrow and Sunday.
