WYRE Forest residents are being urged to save money during the credit crunch by making use of local re-use organisations.
Worcestershire County Council's waste challenge team are reminding people that there are a number of community organisations offering most household items needed in every day modern life.
These can range from refurbished electrical goods, such as washing machines and fridges to three-piece suites and bedroom furniture.
Those looking for recreational pursuits can find reconditioned bicycles or art materials reclaimed from scrap while bargain evening dresses and fashion wear can be located in charity shops.
Chris Atkinson, project development officer for re-use, said: "Buying from re-use organisations can help save you money and also raises necessary funds for charitable organisations to continue there valuable efforts to help prevent waste."
Items sold by local re-use organisations are usually donated by the public or businesses. A guide to re-use detailing the activities of local charitable organisations is available and those who would like to donate unwanted household goods should call 01905 766883 for further details.
