A DELIVERY driver has been left in "shock" after the lorry he was driving sunk into tarmac as he reversed along a Kidderminster Street.
Abdul Hassan, a worker at Kidderminster's B &Q , was delivering sand and bricks to a property in Baxter Avenue when he heard a "big bang".
The 29-year-old, who was driving at 5mph, panicked as the lorry came to a sudden halt and the engine stopped, at around 2.45pm this afternoon.
He said: "I just heard a big bang like I had hit something. I was in shock and started asking people what happened.
"My door couldn't open so I was trapped for a few seconds and had to escape from the passenger side.
"I just wanted to get out fast and see what happened.
"If I was travelling at 20mph something serious would have happened and I would have ended up in hospital."
The father of two added that his first thoughts were concern for his children as he feared for his life.
"I was in shock and I wondered if I was going to be safe," he said.
"I told my boss and he can't believe what has happened."
Mr Hassan, of Birmingham, added that it was his last job of the day.
