WE live in a village of natural beauty at Pound Green, Upper Arley.
We are among the closest residents to the recently refurbished village hall and car park which has been covered from both viewpoints in your paper over recent weeks.
We cross the land every day to get to our home as we have rights of access across it. We negotiate the obstacles of concrete kerbstones and ruts – what the committee call the refurbished car park.
It’s ‘common land’ which is a site of special scientific interest so how does this man-made car park conform to the rules of SSSI?
The car park divides the village and community. Why?
Some people in this village who are on the committee railroad these things through –but it’ s not on the their doorstep.
We have had no consultation or plans of works, just upset and disruption to what we call village life.
I would like to know how grants and planning get passed and how does the committee get over the rules of SSSI ?
How can the committee spend £42,000 on a car park for approximately 12 cars, when a local has said they will do it for free ?
I understand a village hall is for community use , not community upset.
We local people have no voice.
