A KIDDERMINSTER hospice has launched a poignant ‘forget-me-not’ appeal to mark its 35th anniversary year.
Family and friends of people treated at Kemp Hospice are being invited to buy ceramic butterfly keepsakes to help them celebrate the life of a loved one and support the facility.
The pieces are hand painted by local artist Jenny Bird, who runs a small, family run, pottery painting business ‘Paint that Pot’ based in Hartlebury.
They are hand painted, glazed and finished in a kiln. They are 15cm in diameter fixed onto a 75cm stainless steel rod so they can stand prominently in gardens.
Kemp’s butterflies are being showcased at the home of the founder of Kemp, Bodenham arboretum, from August 10 until September 11.
Fundraiser Cathy Sloan said: “We have chosen to display the beautiful butterflies at Bodenham Arboretum as it’s an area of tranquillity, peace and radiance. What better place to be inspired by our beautiful sea of butterflies?
“Just like the butterflies, we invite you to come together, be still and reflect and remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones.”
Each butterfly costs £28.50 and people can order them from Kemp’s website at http://www.kemphospice.org.uk/news/kemp-hospice-butterfly-display/, by calling the fundraising team on 01562 756066 or by emailing cathy.sloan@kemphospice.org.uk
They will also be available to order from Bodenham Arboretum and available for collection at Kemp on September 14.
