EVER wanted to fly? A celebration of human aspiration to take to the skies is the inspiration behind one of the shows which will be performed at this year’s Kidderminster Arts Festival (KAF).
‘A Leap of Faith’ is being presented by Hoodwink Theatre Company, a high quality street theatre group. It is the first time they have toured the production which is an ‘elegant’ comedy with music and extraordinary visual effects.
The show tells the story of a monk who is desperate to fly and how he tries every ridiculous idea that pops into his head. It is suitable for all ages. Loz Samuels, Wyre Forest District Council’s Arts and Play Development Officer said: “I booked the show after seeing it at the Manchester Xtrax Showcase last year. The audience was completely engrossed by the performance. “I am delighted they’re appearing at KAF for a third time. Hoodwink put every ounce of their being into their shows, they’re incredibly high energy and very funny.
“They are only doing one show and it promises to be a real centrepiece for the day. So don’t miss the free performance!”
Hoodwink will be outside the Town Hall in Kidderminster on August 19 at 3pm. Audience members can meet the performers after the show.
There is also an opportunity to have a photograph taken with them wearing a silly moustache and flying helmet. The performers will also be teaching visitors how to make a flying zoetrope or a paper aeroplane.
