THOSE who say women comedians aren’t funny really need to see Jo Caulfield - she had the audience roaring with laughter from start to finish.
Her show focussed on women’s favourite subject – men, and husbands in particular.
The title of Jo’s show, ‘Better The Devil You Know’ was inspired by an incident in Berlin when she found out that her husband really was worth hanging on to, after all the work she had put in over the years to make him 'just right'.
Men in the audience picked up a few tips as to why they may suddenly and unexpectedly be caught in the emotional crossfire, whilst the women learnt that when men meet up in the pub they only ever seem to trade trivial facts, rather like a night preparing for a pub quiz, rather than entertain thoughts of relationships and emotions.
The tale of using a crossword to win an argument in the trains quiet coach was a delight, and Jo’s straw-poll as to how many women in the audience had ever been flashed was truly a revelation!
Brilliantly witty and observational. A great way to round off the 26th Bewdley Festival.
