This is an all-singing/all-dancing happy show, and I am certain every member of the audience left the theatre in high spirits. Indeed, some people were singing as they left the auditorium.

The story tells of a young hopeful, who joins the chorus and is accelerated into stardom when she takes over from an injured leading lady.

Stealing scenes shamelessly as the aging star, Dorothy Brock, is Jill Parmenter who can always be relied on to give an entertaining performance. Playing the young starlet is Jill's daughter, Molly, and the electricity between these two ladies is tangible. This was an inspired piece of casting.

Julian Richards plays Julian Marsh, the impresario putting on the show, and as ever he gives a superb performance.

Salli Hunt and Dave Clarke can always be depended on to give excellent performances, and this was no exception, while other roles equally good were taken by Emma Paine, John F Jones, Kathryn Painter and Ryan Donnell. The supporting cast are too numerous to mention, but all added to the enjoyment.

There was a real "feel good" reaction from the audience, hearing those familiar songs, such as We're in the Money, Lullaby of Broadway, Shuffle off to Buffalo and, of course, the title song - there was certainly plenty of foot-tapping going on.

It was great to see so many members of KODS taking part on stage to help celebrate the group's 100th anniversary year, and I hope this talented society continues for many more.
