KIDDERMINSTER Operatic and Dramatic Society have pulled out all the stops to present this superb production of one of my all-time favourite shows.

Darren Richards, as usual, gives an excellent performance as Adam Pontipes, who sets out to find a wife to care for him and his six unruly brothers.

Kathryn Knight, in her first leading role, rises to the challenge admirably, being not only a good singer, but actress too.

Chris Paine gives what is possibly his best performance, as Benjamin, even turning cartwheels!

The comedy is provided by the ever-reliant Julian Richards, as Caleb and a wonderful young actor, Dave Clarke, who is a really appealing Dideon. Doug Forrester, Michael Harvey, Ian Boulstridge are also extremely good in their roles as the other brothers, Ian reacting violently when reminded of his real name (Frankincense).

All the brides play their roles well, and I was also impressed by the girls' former suitors. It is so good to hear those wonderful songs again - Bless Your Beautiful Hide, Goin' Courtin' and Wonderful Day, and my favourite of all, superbly led by Chris Paine - Lonesome Polecat. Congratulations to all concerned, I had a great night out.
