THE cast got a much-deserved standing ovation at the end of this superb show where the audience was skilfully transported back to 1950s Las Vegas.
Henry Prego as Frank Sinatra, Nigel Casey as Dean Martin and Allie Laurie as Sammy Davis Jr brought the so-called Rat Pack era to life in this wonderfully directed musical.
Hit after hit just kept on coming but my highlights were Mr Bojangles by Sammy Davis Jr, Everybody Loves Somebody by Dean Martin and My Way by Frank Sinatra, even though I had to wait until the encore for this, one of my all-time favourite songs.
The great thing about the show was that it wasn't just a vehicle for presenting some of the greatest songs ever written. The audience also got an insight into the personalities of the three, very different artistes.
Nigel Casey's acting as the drunk Dean Martin provoked plenty of laughs as did the continual ribbing of Sammy Davis Jr, or Smoky as he was affectionately called by the other two, while Sinatra was very much the straight guy keeping the others in check.
For a real fun night out, don't miss it. AG
