RANKIN Heather Sadly passed away at home on September 2nd 2021, aged 74 years. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A funeral service will take place at St George's Church, Kidderminster on Friday October 8th 2021 at 2.30pm, followed by burial in the churchyard. Flowers are welcome or donations, if desired, for Dementia UK c/o Edwin Harris & Sons Ltd, 1 Crane Street, Kidderminster, DY11 6XT. Tel. 01562 822625.

As I live in West Yorkshire, huge thanks to my brother, Colin for being with her when she died and for all he did to arrange the funeral. I don't think I've processed Mum's death yet, but no doubt will - in time. She was a fun, comical character who was always laughing and could talk the hind legs off a donkey. My message to her on her wreath probably best sums up my feelings:

I looked up to the sky tonight,
And saw a brand new star,
It twinkled and it seemed to say, 'I know just who you are.'
And then I heard you'd passed away,
And though my heart was sad,
I knew that star was you - at peace,
In heaven now, with Dad.
