WOLVERLEY CofE Secondary School students are celebrating after achieving the best GCSE results in the school’s history.

Last year’s GCSE students were the first year group to go all the way through the years at the school since it opened in 2007.

The school saw 53 per cent of pupils achieving five grade A*s to C, including English and maths, in 2012, compared to 36 per cent in 2011.

Headteacher Richard North said: “Our pupils and staff have worked very hard for these superb results.

“They demonstrate the benefit of the positive learning environment and the encouraging, supportive teaching that has developed in recent years.

“The progress that children make is significantly better than national comparisons. The data shows that for low, middle or high ability children, Wolverley can get the best out of them and enable them to gain very good results.

“Despite the issues reported nationally with English, Wolverley’s English results were exceptional and showed significantly more pupils than average made the right progress in the subject.

"It is significant that these results have been achieved from the year group who were the first to start at the school after the Wyre Forest reorganisation of 2007.”
