As the Club year comes to an end, members have taken part in a number of fundraising activities. Fairtrade fortnight was marked with a coffee morning at the home of Shirley Bonas and raised £150 which was split between Fairtrade and the Club’s general charity fund.
To mark World Water Day on 22 March, the Club held a ‘Water into Wine’ raffle at their supper meeting and raised £32 for Water Aid.
Members supported Birchen Coppice Primary School at their parent coffee mornings, Easter Fayre and will take part in a new initiative to improve numeracy and literacy skills by playing board games with the children. Members are also teaming up with the Kidderminster Food Bank to provide lunches for children during the Easter holidays for those normally getting free school meals.
Other donations made at the end of the year include £200 to the local Women’s Refuge to go towards the cost of building a disabled bathroom and £50 to the Harare Soroptimist Club for their projects with women and children.
The Swan Centre in Kidderminster was the venue in March for a display of our projects, social and fundraising events as part of our campaign to raise awareness around the district, attracting the attention of people passing through the Centre.
