A FREE mini-soccer festival will be held as part of Sir Bobby Robson’s National Football Day in Kidderminster.
Kidderminster Lions Football Club will be hosting one of four events in the county on behalf of the Worcestershire Football Association.
The event will be held on the new football turf facility at the King Charles I School and will include free activities such as a coaching session with the Football Association (FA) Tesco skills team, penalty competitions, a session at the Lions’ soccer school and an opportunity to win tickets to England versus Moldova in September.
Kidderminster Lions chairman Jim Tyler said: “We are extremely proud to have been selected to run one of just 150 National events and hope that the youngsters in the community come and get involved on August 10.
“I know that all members of Kidderminster Lions involved will do their utmost to ensure that all players and parents really enjoy the day”.
The event will run from 10am to 2pm and up to 200 participants will receive a free ticket for Kidderminster Harriers’ first home game of the season at 3pm on the same day against Gateshead.
The Lions club was formed in 1996 and provides football opportunities for Wyre Forest youngsters. This season, they will have 17 teams ranging from under 7s to under 18s.
The club also holds a soccer school for four to eight year olds and recently became a FA Charter Standard Community Club, which is the highest accreditation under the Charter Standard banner.
The event, named after the late England manager Sir Bobby Robson, is being held to celebrate 150 years of the FA.
