SOMETHING spooky’s going on at Bewdley Festival to get audience members in the mood for Halloween.
Several shows at the 26th Bewdley Festival, which is taking place from October 11 to 20, are already sold out but there is still an opportunity to see Rebecca Vaughan starring in Female Gothic.
The show will see a one haunted woman tells strange tales of the macabre in a darkened candlelit room on Wednesday, October 16 at the Mercure Hotel.
Continuing the Halloween theme, there is wicked humour from TV stand-up Jo Caulfield on Saturday, October 19 in her show Better The Devil You Know.
The show is inspired by a shocking conversation Jo had with an audience member at one of her gigs where she found out she wasn’t actually married to her husband after getting hitched in New York and failing to fill in the paperwork when she got home.
Although Jo is a regular on TV and radio panel shows, including Mock the Week and Have I Got News for You, it’s on stage where she is most at home.
Of more general appeal, there is Miranda Krestovnikoff giving a whistle stop tour around the Coast, an evening with Jonathan Miller and the swing and jazz singer Clare Teal celebrating the Divas.
There are also daytime events featuring singer-songwriter Edwina Hayes whose cover of a Randy Newman song got more than five million views on YouTube and Tuesday October 15 is Tudor Day with food historian Nick Trustram Eve sharing the secrets of the Tudor Banquet followed by a royal audience with historian Lesley Smith as Queen Elizabeth I.
Tickets are available from Bewdley Tourist Information Centre, in Load Street or by calling 01905 611427 For more details visit bewdleyfestival.org.uk
