HARRIERS boss Steve Burr insists he will appeal against the red card shown to James Dance this week following his dismissal in the game against Forest Green Rovers.

The winger, who was a late substitute for two-goal hero Amari Morgan-Smith, was involved in an ugly fracas with Forest Green defender Aarran Racine deep into stoppage time.

Both players were given their marching orders as a result, a decision which enraged Burr with Dance facing a three-match ban.

Burr fumed: “James did absolutely nothing wrong.

“I’m totally amazed he was sent off - he shouldn’t have even been given a yellow card!

“Their player (Racine) has pulled James up by his hair after both of them went for a 50-50 ball and then there was a bit of afters.

“James was blameless and I can’t believe he was sent off.”

Should Harriers decide against appealing the decision, or it is unsuccessful, Dance will miss Saturday’s trip to Southport, as well as games against Lincoln City and at Barnet.

Burr could also be without midfielder Callum Gittings for the trip to Haig Avenue after he limped off against Forest Green with a hamstring problem.

The Aggborough boss has already ruled out striker Michael Gash plus defenders Mickey Demetriou and Chey Dunkley.

Added to that, Lee Fowler suffered a blow to his ankle, but Burr is optimistic that he will recover in time.

The Harriers chief has praised the contribution made by the supporters as his side turned around a 1-0 deficit to seal their 4-1 win over the Gloucestershire outfit.

He claimed: “The atmosphere from the crowd was absolutely fantastic. I think they were as noisey as I’ve ever heard them.

“It was great to see them bouncing up and down behind the goal - it was like something from the Bernabeu.”

Burr added: “I was a miserable old git on Saturday after the Chester City game, because as an attacking force, we didn’t do a lot.

“I changed things around for the Forest Green game and played Nathan Blissett up front with Joe Lolley - that was a bit more like it against a side who have invested heavily this season. “It was more like what I expect and helped by a peach of a goal by Amari.”
