A SERIAL fundraiser from Kidderminster has run his first full marathon in Budapest for Kemp Hospice.
Joshua Bentley, 23, completed the marathon in three hours and 51 minutes with friend James Prosser.
The accountancy student at Birmingham City University has previously taken part in the Birmingham half-marathon and Kemp Hospice’s Santa fun runs.
He was also one of 620 torchbearers for last year’s Paralympic Games in recognition of his volunteer work in Ghana where he took four suitcases of donated items, including some from Shuttle readers.
Mr Bentley said: “The marathon was very challenging. We’d done quite a bit of training but nothing can compare to running the actual marathon.”
The duo decided to go to Budapest for the marathon in a bid to increase donations. They hope to raise £500 for the Wyre Forest-based hospice and have so far collected £400.
Mr Bentley added: “I’ve been quite fortunate with the people around me so I just wanted to give something back.”
