Working with Age UK and local supermarkets – Year 8 and Year 9 students from Haybridge High School and Sixth Form in Hagley recently learned to knit in their after school club and put their new skills to good use.
By knitting hats for smoothie bottles to be sold in supermarkets, students ensured that 25p in every sale is donated to Age UK to help their most vulnerable older community to keep warm during the winter months.
A number of hats were sent to the charity – of all shapes, sizes and colours - if you want to boost the charity yourself – have a look www.thebigknit.co.uk!
Yvonne Fieldhouse, Jane Holder & all the staff in the Technology department were most impressed with the students' skills and commented ‘how wonderful to see vintage crafts revived - it was great to see the students' commitment and contribution to such a worthwhile cause.
