Haybridge students raise £750 for Macmillan Cancer Trust
Students and staff at Haybridge put on their chef’s hats to bake and donate for the Macmillan World’s Biggest Coffee Morning fundraiser on Friday 27 September 2013. Sixth Form Charity representative Chloe Lansbury said ‘Each year we take part and this year we are all delighted to send a cheque for £750 to Macmillan Cancer Trust – it was our best coffee morning fundraiser yet. Admittedly there was not a lot of coffee, but people donated an enormous number of delicious cakes to sell – everyone was very generous and all those notes and coins added up to our best ever total for the day.’
Cakes of all shapes, sizes and calorie content were sold at break and lunchtime. Gemma Sutton, Mathematics Teacher, commented ‘this is a charity that is close to the hearts of many staff, students, parents and carers. I am particularly delighted as the Macmillan team are supporting a member of my family while they undergo treatment. When you’re facing the toughest fight of your life, you need a team of inspiring people in your corner with you. That’s who Macmillan are, and we are glad to help’
