HOLLYWOOD could be calling for two Abberley Hall School pupils who won first prize in a movie making competition.
Thirteen-year-olds Alina Jones and Gigi Malin entered the Young Filmmakers’ Challenge run by The Regal Cinema in Tenbury Wells as part of the town’s mistletoe festival.
They produced a short silent film based on the story of the Mistletoe Bride and were awarded a first prize of editing software.
The duo have been attending filmmaking classes run as an after-school activity at the Great Witley school by art teacher Emma Symons.
She said: "The new classes are very popular, with lots of pupils keen to learn about the process of producing films.
“We are lucky that one of our former pupils, Tom Stanhope, now runs a filmmaking company in Stockton-on-Teme, and he has agreed to help out at the sessions.”
Abberley Hall pupils submitted four entries into the Regal competition, all filmed on digital cameras, video cameras and iPads.
Alina said that she and Gigi were thrilled to win first prize and that the Mistletoe Bride is the story of a bride who plays hide and seek on her wedding day and accidentally locks herself in a wooden chest.
She said: "Much time passes before her groom finds her and presumes her to be dead. He presses a sprig of mistletoe to her chest and she instantly wakes, revived by the magical healing powers of the plant."
