A TALK on the restoration of the Droitwich Canal is being hosted by Clent History Society at the village’s Parish Hall on Thursday, June 26.
Dr. Malcolm Nixon will be giving a talk, entitled The Droitwich Canal – The Past Brought to Life, about the 18th-century canals which linked the town to the River Severn and Birmingham. Both canals were formally abandoned in 1939, but a restoration project led to the reopening of the system in July 2011.
Carole Hodgson, society secretary, said: “Dr Nixon is an excellent speaker who has visited us at Clent twice before.
“We are looking forward to this next visit with eager anticipation and everyone interested in this fascinating subject is most welcome to join us.”
The talk starts at 8pm where admission for non-members costs £2.50, which includes tea, coffee and biscuits.
