NINETY students of King Charles Sixth Form in Kidderminster got the opportunity to take part in mock interviews with Midlands employers.

The interviews followed up CV workshop they took part in. The students attended two workshops to help them learn skills relevant to any future employee - a CV skills workshop, followed by an interview session with 10 employers from companies. They included managing directors from Barclays Corporate and the regional head of Tesco express.

The event, which was the brainchild of ex-student Alex Morgan, was part of a UK-wide campaign to get thousands of young people aged 11 to 19 from schools in the Midlands ready for work. Alex is now a graduate at Barclays corporate.

Kayode Sulola of Barclays said: “This programme is something that I wish I had when I was at school. Being able to take your curriculum and mix this with practical application is the only way one can really plan their next steps.

"Having a group of graduates run the workshop makes this even more useful, as we have been there before and not too long ago. Whether they want to apply to university, apprenticeships or jump straight into work, we have tried to give them tips that will stick with them for life.”
