HUNDREDS of people attended an annual fair in Kidderminster, which featured a rodeo bull and gladiator ring.
Borrington Park, in Comberton, was the venue for this year’s Borrington Bash, where visitors enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon, kicked off by a fancy dress parade from St Chad’s Church to the park.
The bash is staged by Offmore and Comberton Action Group (OCAG) providing activities, stalls and games for free.
Rose Bishop, chairman of the OCAG, said: “It was a brilliant day, the weather was really good and everyone enjoyed themselves.
“We had hundreds of people turn up, which we could judge by the fact the barbecue, pig roast and ice cream van all sold out.”
The event was helped in its organisation by Kidderminster Mayor Mike Price, who led the fancy dress parade through Offmore and Comberton estate behind the Boys’ Brigade marching band.
Mr Price also awarded prizes from the OCAG for the best-dressed groups and individuals.
This year’s bash also featured a bouncy castle, rodeo bull, gladiator ring, stalls and a visit from Mickey and Minnie Mouse.
Mrs Bishop said: “We try to keep it different each year and not have the same activities, year on year, to stop it becoming boring.
“The event is a very nice community thing to be part of but it’s not easy to put together each year, although when we look back in a few days time and see what we did, it will be worth it.”
The fair is free and the money raised by the 20 stallholders, which included Kidderminster Youth House and the Severn Area Rescue Association, is either kept by the organisations taking part or donated to charities.
SARA’s stall raised about £100 to go toward the charity’s work, while a second-hand book stall made more than £200 for local charity, King of Hearts Creative Outreach, which works with children on Comberton estate.
Money from the book stall was also donated to The Barrel of Fun shop, in Burcher Green, which provided free circus skills experiences at this year’s bash.
Free refreshments were available for visitors, with St Chad’s Church cafe, Cafe Chad, giving away 450 home-made scones and biscuits and Offmore Evangelical Church providing free drinks.
