STUDENTS at Wolverley CE Secondary School trekked their way to raising more than £1,000 for charity.
The seven-mile Big Walk from the school to Kinver Edge and back was completed by pupils in years seven, eight and nine and a total of £1,018 was collected for three charities.
Young Carers, Stephen Sutton’s appeal and Christian Aid were chosen to receive the sponsorship money by the children, who wanted to support one local, one national and one international cause.
The walk’s route was challenging and rural with a variety of different terrains.
Bryn Thomas, headteacher of Wolverley CE Secondary School, said: “This is the fourth year that the Big Walk has taken place.
“We are very lucky to have a wonderful environment around the school and this is a great opportunity for everyone to come together to take on a challenge and enjoy it.
“We are delighted to have been able to raise a fantastic amount of money for three very deserving charities and I would like to congratulate everyone that took part in the walk.”
He added that the school greatly appreciated the water bottles which were provided to the event by Wenlock Springs Water.
