STUDENTS of Wolverley CE Secondary School have been experiencing their dream jobs as part of the school’s ambassador programme.
Following an assembly, students were asked to think about their ambitions and explain why they wanted to pursue them as a career.
Paths that students wanted to follow led to experiences that involved being a physio at Wolverhampton Wanderers, a veterinary nurse at Charnock Veterinary Practice, a photographer at The Shuttle's sister paper, the Worcester News and a headteacher at Franche Primary School.
Bryn Thomas, headteacher of Wolverley CE Secondary School, said: “Our school mantra is Ambition Unlimited, so it’s important for us to encourage our students at the very start of their journey at our school to think about their future and aim high.
“The ambassador programme gives them the chance to represent the school and spend a day with some of the best people in their fields.”
A group of students whose dream job it was to become bakers took part in a special masterclass with the head chef of The Elms Hotel in Abberley, Chris Von Landkammer, who taught the students how to make chocolate muffins and scones.
Budding actors were invited to the Birmingham Hippodrome to watch a performance of Evita and held a question-and-answer session with the cast, while 10 students who are hoping to pursue careers in the gaming industry spent a day with Warwickshire-based FreeStyleGames.
The game development company, which was behind the Bafta-nominated DJ Hero, held a workshop for the students and took them through the creative process of coming up with new games.
Mr Thomas added: “The ambassador days have certainly motivated and inspired the students that took part and their experiences are helping to ensure they go on to choose the right GCSE options.
“I’d like to say a big thank you to all the businesses for giving their time so that our students could have such fantastic experiences.”
