PUPILS from a Stourport school recently took part in a Stone Age day, full of exciting hands on learning opportunities.
Year three pupils from Burlish Park Primary School took their curriculum studies outdoors where they learnt how to build dens using natural materials much like people in the Stone Age would have done.
They made their own fire pits as well as pots and dishes using only the natural materials around them while the session finished with stories around the fire along with hot chocolate and toasted marshmallows.
Beth Tringham, year three teacher, said: “We had a great morning outdoors and during the afternoon.
“We created our own Stone Age menus, based on the hunter gatherer diet, and cooked our own Stone Age food. This included nettle tea, berries and bread.
“The children bravely tried all on offer, with the bread proving extremely popular.
“The day finished with a story told from cave paintings and the children used their imaginations to help tell the story as a class.”
