THE foundation of a Kidderminster School was remembered recently in its annual Founders’ Day Service held at St Mary’s Church.
King Charles I School, the only high school in the UK to bear the name of the 17th century monarch, was founded in 1609 by Thomas Blount, the then Lord of the Manor in Kidderminster.
This years’ Service, led by The Rev Rose Lawley, was attended by civic dignitaries including Councillor Stephen Williams, chairman of Wyre Forest District Council, and Mayor of Kidderminster, Mike Price, as well as members of the Old Carolians Association, former headteachers, school governors, staff and students.
The address was given by The Rev Chris Allen from Bewdley on the theme of doing the right thing.
