STUDENTS, parents and staff at a Stourport school have been spreading Christmas cheer throughout the town.
Stourport High School and Sixth Form Centre students donated more than 130 hampers to elderly residents and families.
Students from all tutor groups have contributed toward the large numbers of hampers and also decorated them for a college competition.
Staff members donated hampers either individually or through their respective departments and a team of staff has been delivering them to residents throughout the town.
Liz Quinn, headteacher, said: “The generosity of students, parents and staff has been overwhelming this year and I wish to thank everyone most sincerely.”
About 350 shoeboxes have also been collected by pupils for The Trussell Trust’s Christmas shoebox appeal, which provides a Christmas present for underprivileged children.
Elsewhere in the school, year 12 and 13 students visited Ravenhurst Residential Care Home, in Lickhill Road North, to help organise and run a range of fun activities including bingo, a picture quiz and musical performances of festive songs.
Residents of the home gave “glowing” feedback to the staff and “fully appreciated the hard work” that had gone into making the afternoon a success.
Ms Quinn added: “It was a great opportunity for young and old to share stories and a most enjoyable afternoon was had by everyone involved.”
