VILLAGERS will be putting their best feet forward as they take part in an annual walking event to raise essential funds for the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

They will don their walking boots for the popular Pound the Bounds event in Rock, which is now in its 15th year.

Registration for the walk, which takes place on Sunday, May 3, is now open and includes a variety of distances depending on ability.

Participants can join the 26, 18, 12, nine or six mile walks, where instructions will be given to walkers and routes will be marked for extra guidance, while families are invited to take part in a three mile treasure trail.

Henk Buzink, leader of the organising committee, said: “Year on year our event has continued to grow in popularity and it’s fantastic to see so many people, young and old, taking advantage of our organised walks.

“The event is also a terrific way for people to demonstrate their support of such a good cause and we hope all the walkers will encourage friends and family to sponsor them to take part.”

The money raised at the event will go towards helping the work of the Midlands Air Ambulance Charity.

As well as attending some of the most traumatic and life threatening incidents across the region, the charity also airlifts patients from remote parts of the countryside where land ambulances cannot reach.

Maria Jones, regional fundraising manager for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity, said: “We are once again very excited to be the beneficiary charity of Rock Pound the Bounds.

“The event is one of the biggest fundraisers in our calendar, and last year those who took part helped to raise more than £5,600, which was an incredible amount.”
