A MAN has died and three people hospitalised following a fatal two-car crash in Stourport yesterday evening (Thursday, Jan 15).
At around 5.50pm, a car, which was travelling in the Bewdley direction of Ribbesford Road, Areley Kings, was in collision with another car travelling in the opposite direction.
The driver travelling towards Bewdley, a man in his twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the other car, and two passengers, sustained minor injuries and were taken to hospital.
West Mercia Police and West Midlands Ambulance service, which dispatched two ambulances, two rapid response vehicles and one paramedic officer, attended the crash.
An ambulance service spokesman said: “Crews arrived to find two cars that had been in a substantial collision.
“Unfortunately, it quickly became apparent nothing could be done to save the man travelling in one car and sadly, he was confirmed dead at the scene.
“Two other men and one woman, all travelling in the second car, all suffered multiple minor injuries and received emergency treatment at the scene.
“All three were transferred by ambulance to Worcester Royal Hospital for further emergency treatment.”
Police closed the road until shortly before midnight to carry out their initial investigations.
They are now appealing for witnesses to the collision to contact the police on 101 quoting incident number 468 of 15th January.
