A DATE for the Wyre Forest District Council by-election in Blakebrook and Habberley South ward has been announced.
The by-election will take place on Thursday, September 24, and there is one vacant seat following the resignation of Councillor Ruth Gregory.
Any nominations must be received by Thursday, August 27.
Anyone who wishes to vote in Blakebrook and Habberley South in this election must be on the electoral register and the deadline for registering is midnight on Tuesday, September 8.
The council has sent out letters to all households in the district, asking residents to check the details on the electoral register.
Anyone who is not on it can register to vote by visiting www.gov.uk/register-to-vote or application forms can be obtained from the Worcestershire Hub in Kidderminster.
Electors who would like to apply for a new postal or proxy vote can download an application form from the council’s website. The deadline for applying for a postal vote is 5pm on Wednesday, September 9, and the deadline for proxy vote is 5pm on Wednesday, September 16.
Ian Miller, returning officer for Wyre Forest, said: “In order to vote on polling day, residents of Blakebrook & Habberley South must make sure they are registered to vote by their chosen method in good time for the election on Thursday 24 September 2015.
“Please check your poll card for details of your polling station which will be open between 7am and 10pm.
“I would also ask residents who are considering applying for a postal vote or think they may require a proxy vote, to put their application in as soon as possible.”
