A KIDDERMINSTER man who indecently assaulted a pensioner aged in her 70s in her own home has been sent to prison.

Kevin Preece, aged 34, went to the woman's home in an evening after he had been drinking and spent 45 minutes with her, leaving her "shaking and frightened", Worcester Crown Court heard.

Michael Conry, prosecuting, said Preece got upset when the woman would not let him in on the evening of December 9, 2014.

He got past her into the house and told her she was beautiful and he wanted to take her to bed and give her a massage all over.

The woman, who is known to Preece, told him he was making her feel uncomfortable and she wanted him to go but he stayed and started to massage her neck, Mr Conry said.

She got up and shouted at him and as he went to leave, he tried to kiss her on the mouth. "She was left shaking and frightened and very upset," Mr Conry said.

He told the court that since the offence became known, another woman in her 50s had come forward with a complaint about Preece and because he was on bail, he was taken into custody for two months. The second woman then confessed that the incident has not taken place and he was released.

Preece, of Clent Avenue, Kidderminster, told police the woman had consented to a massage on her neck but denied any sexual intent. He changed his plea to guilty of indecent assault at the start of a trial.

Nicholas Berry, defending, said Preece had been drinking and could not remember what had happened.

"It was a very unpleasant incident that lasted a long time," Mr Berry said.

Judge Robert Juckes, QC, said the woman had "protested from start to finish" and had tried to get Preece to leave. He had shown no contrition for the offence, the judge said.

He was jailed for a total of 15 months, minus the two months on remand, and ordered to register as a sex offender for five years.
