A STOURPORT care home was filled with the angelic sound of children singing Christmas carols recently.

Youngsters from Lickhill Primary School treated residents of Ravenhurst Residential Care Home, in Lickhill Road North, to a festive performance of traditional carols.

The children, aged between seven and 11, wore their festive woolies while singing Christmas favourites including 'Away in a Manger' and many new modern Christmas songs, before tucking into mince pies and cakes with the residents and team.

Ninety-five-year-old resident, Betty Rooney, said: "It was so very lovely having the children perform, it brought back some wonderful and happy memories."

Andrew Green, home manager, said: "The smiles on the faces of our residents when they heard the children were wonderful to see - it was a lovely way to get into the spirit of Christmas."

Jane Lloyd, deputy headteacher of Lickhill Primary, added: "The children love going along to sing Christmas carols and it is a great experience for them to go into the community and share their festive cheer with such a wonderful audience."
