DEVASTATED relatives of an ‘inspirational’ Stourport man who had been missing for two months say his death has left a huge void in their lives.
The family of Andrew Cooper have paid heartfelt tributes to the 44-year-old who was recovered from the River Severn at Holt Fleet on Friday, March 17. He had not been seen since January 4.
Mr Cooper grew up in Walsall and moved to Stourport five years ago with wife Ceri and sons Liam, aged 21, and 20-year-old Adam. He worked at Conveyor Units in Sandy Lane.
Mrs Cooper said: "Andy was selfless and found joy in helping and developing others. His energy, passion and positivity inspired and motivated all that he met.”
In a joint statement to their father, Liam and Adam said: “It's hard to say something for someone who deserves so much said about them.
“The easiest thing to say is that we love you dad and so does everyone, nearly as much as you loved us because we all know how much you did.
"Thanks for everything you've done and for the perfect childhood. You'll be in everyone's hearts and minds, forever and always.”
Mr Cooper’s parents Maureen and Geoff described him as a “loving son, brother, husband, uncle and father.”
They said: “He would help anybody out. He was the loveliest son you could have, he was so helpful in every way and was always there for us whenever we needed him.
“He was fun and enjoyed meeting people wherever he went. He will leave a large hole in our lives that can never be filled.”
His sister Rachel added: “Andy was and always will be in our hearts. He will always be our guide in life and a listening ear when we need it.
"He lived life to the full and no matter who, what, where or when, he touched so many people's lives in a positive way.
“It's unreal we have lost a good brother, husband, dad, son and uncle but heaven has gained an amazing soul.”
Shortly after Mr Cooper’s body was found, family member Laura Jackson thanked emergency services involved in the recovery and those who had helped try to find him.
West Mercia Police have confirmed his death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
