DETECTIVES have confirmed that the body of a man recovered from the River Seven is that of missing Kidderminster man Steven Downing.
West Mercia Police recovered the body of a man from the River Severn, near to Quay Street, Worcester yesterday (Wednesday, October 31) at around 3pm.
The body has been formally identified as Steven Downing who went missing on Sunday evening and investigating officers are looking to establish what happened to him.
Steven was last sighted on a CCTV camera exiting Worcester Shrub Hill station at around 8:15pm on Sunday (October 28).
Officers investigating would like to hear from anyone who may have seen Steven throughout the evening and in particular after he left Shrub Hill train station.
Detective Sergeant Ollie Moore said: "Sadly, yesterday (31 October), officers recovered the body of missing Steven Downing from the River Severn, in Worcester.
“We are trying to piece together Steven's movements on Sunday evening and are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard from him during the evening, in particular after he left Shrub Hill station at around 8.15pm."
