THE council says Lea Lane will be closed "for some time" after a landslide on Friday (March 1) caused soil under the road surface to fall into the canal.
Worcestershire County Council says the landslide, off Lea Lane between Wolverley and Cookley, was caused by a burst water main, which washed part of the road into the canal.
It said Lea Lane has been closed as a precaution due to some subsidence.
Jon Fraser, from Worcestershire County Council Highways, told The Shuttle: "Following the landslide in the area on Friday, Lea Lane will remain closed for some time.
"The situation continues to be discussed with partners involved.
"We would ask local residents to continue to follow the signposted diversion route and follow our Highways & Travel Twitter account @WorcsTravel for the latest updates.
"We will reopen the road as soon as is possible."
