A PARADE in honour of St. George's Day will take place in Kidderminster this coming Sunday (April 28).
The Kidderminster Scout & Guide St. George's Day Parade & Church Services will start at New Road at 10.30am.
The Parade will be led by WF8 (St. John's) with the Kings Norton Youth Marching Band & the Halesowen Scout Band, starting the march along New Road, up Prospect Hill and along Bromsgrove Street where the Guides, Brownies & Rainbows will separate and will proceed down Coventry Street to Baxter Church for their service.
The theme this year is "New Beginnings" and the annual collection will be going to Baxter Church.
The Scouts will continue along to Radford Avenue where the Beavers & Cubs will enter St.George's Church for their service with the theme "Scouting Around the World," with their collection going to "Mentor Link" & "Home Start".
The Scouts, Explorers & Young Leaders will continue along Radford Avenue to the Horsefair, Church Fields then to St. Mary's Church for their service.
On the return back, the Scouts will meet up with the Beavers & Cubs at St.Georges & will march back via Coventry Street, High Steet and join the Guides at the Bull Ring, finishing the Parade by marching past the Town Hall for the Salute.
The Parade will involve around 1,000 persons including the two Bands, which will form around 10.00am and start at 10.30am
A temporary road closure has been authorised by the Wyre Forest District Council.
The roads will be closed on a rolling basis to allow safe passage for all the parade whilst at the same time causing minimum disruption to all road users. However there may be some delays, so motorists are advised to steer clear of this part of the town & seek alternative routes where possible.
